What we collect
Photos and descriptions of household problems you submit; your postcode, and your street address only when you book; your name and email when you create an account; your phone number when you book (so your tradie can reach you); device push tokens if you allow notifications. Payment card details go directly to Stripe — we never see or store them.
How we use it
Photos and descriptions are analysed by AI services (Anthropic Claude for diagnosis, Voyage AI for matching) to identify the problem and suggest fixes or tradies. They keep a short-lived copy — around 7 days — for safety monitoring, then delete it. Your suburb is shared with tradies when gathering quotes. Your street address, first name and phone number are shared only with the one tradie you book, only after you book. SMS is sent via Twilio. Quote calls are made by Mendy staff, and where automated calling is used it runs via Vapi; call outcomes and any recordings are kept for quality and dispute handling. Payments are processed by Stripe. Email — including anything you send to support@mendyai.app — is processed by Resend.
Information sent overseas
Some of the services above store or process information outside Australia: Anthropic, Voyage AI, Stripe, Twilio and Vapi in the United States, and Resend in Japan. We send each provider only what it needs to do its job, and we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. By using Mendy — and by emailing us — you consent to that transfer.
Notifications
Push notifications (for example, when a quote lands) go to the iPhone app only. Turn them off any time in the app under Profile → Notifications, or in your phone's settings. The web and Android versions of Mendy don't send push notifications.
Tradie information
Tradie business listings are built from public records (the Australian Business Register and state licensing registers), supplemented with publicly available business contact details and aggregate ratings (for example from Google), always shown with their source. Any tradie can say “remove me” once — by phone, SMS (reply STOP), or email — and we never contact them again, on any channel. The one way back is deliberate: verifying ownership of your business through the claim process.
What we never do
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't use your photos for anything except handling your job.
Deleting your account
Two routes, either works: in the app, Profile → Account settings → Delete account; or on the web at mendyai.app/account/delete. Both remove your sign-in, name, email and phone permanently. Records of completed transactions are kept in anonymised form, as Australian bookkeeping law requires. If you'd rather we did it, call (02) 3816 2225 and we'll do it while you're on the phone.
Getting at your data, and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email support@mendyai.app or call (02) 3816 2225 and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information or your complaint, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Contact
