Mendy helps you work out what's wrong at home, shows you a genuine DIY fix when one is safe, and — when you want a professional — rings real local tradies to gather quotes for you. Tradies on Mendy are independent businesses. They are not our employees or subcontractors: the work, the quote, and the contract for the job are between you and the tradie you choose. Price guides shown before quotes are estimates from market data — useful context, not promises. A quote gathered from a tradie is that tradie's own number for the job as described; the final price can change if the job turns out different on site. You pay the tradie directly for the work.

Booking through Mendy costs a flat A$3.50 — your first booking is free. That is the only thing Mendy ever charges customers; there are no commissions on the job and no mark-ups on quotes. If your tradie doesn't show, tell us and the booking fee comes back. Payments are processed by Stripe.

Clever-fix guides are for genuinely low-risk jobs only, and every guide includes the point where you should stop and call a professional. Follow them sensibly. Anything involving mains electricity, gas, or structural work is deliberately never included — for those, licensed trades exist for good reason.

Reviews come from customers who actually booked through Mendy. Keep them honest and civil; we moderate against abuse and impersonation, and tradies can dispute reviews through a documented process. We never write, buy, or trade reviews.

Business listings are built from public records, and claiming your profile is free — as is receiving jobs. Mendy never charges lead fees. The optional Premium subscription (A$35/month or A$350/year) makes you a featured, always-labelled paid placement in up to 5 postcodes you choose; it never buys ratings, reviews, or a place you haven't earned outside those rules. You can cancel any time from the billing portal; Premium then runs to the end of the period you've paid for and stops. If you tell us to stop contacting you, we stop on every channel; verifying ownership of your business through the claim process is the one way back. We may pause a listing while a verification problem (for example a lapsed licence) is sorted out.

Don't misuse Mendy: no fake jobs, no scraping, no impersonating a business or another person, no using the platform to spam tradies or customers. We can close accounts that do.

We work hard to put good local tradies in front of you, and we show you what we've checked — ABNs and licences, where the registers let us. The work itself is the tradie's. To the extent the law allows, Mendy isn't liable for the performance of a tradie's services. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that can't be excluded — including your consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply to both Mendy's service and the tradie's work.
